SOTARO TAKANAMI

Born in Tokyo in 1949.

Graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Tama Art University in 1973. While at the university, he studied under Tatsuya Nakamoto.

In 1986, the print collection "Nature" was released simultaneously in Tokyo and Paris by Collection Française.

Since 1990, he has held over 100 solo exhibitions at Takashimaya department stores across the country.

In 2004, an exhibition of original drawings from the book "12 Monkey Haiku Selections," which was sold at the Louvre Museum, was held at Galerie La Ruche.

"12 Selected Monkey Haiku" published by RMN (Reunion des Musées Nationaux ARLYS, French National Museums Union).

Invited to the Elysee Palace by President Chirac.

In 2010, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation published "THE BEGINNING OF SPACE" (The Beginning of the Gods) for the Middle East.

Creating a rough sketch for Yokozuna Hakuho's mawashi.

Exhibited at the 2019 LA Art Show ('21).

Exhibited at the Monaco Yacht Show.

In 2021, the work was added to the collection of Takashimaya Historical Museum (Osaka).

Exhibiting at PARKS Gallery for one year in 2022. Exhibiting at Hampton Fine Art Fair (Austria).

Exhibited at the Carrousel de Louvre (Paris).

Exhibiting at the 2023 International Contemporary Art Cannes Biennale.

Exhibited at the International Fine Art Biennale Leversel (Switzerland)

Exhibited at PAKS Gallery Villa (Austria), Castle Heidenreichstein (Austria), and Munich (Germany).

In 2024, he will hold his first solo exhibition as a living artist at Takashimaya Historical Museum.
